Two days ago we (P.S Photography) wrapped up shooting a video for a local hair salon,Texture Hair Boutique. Since launching the video (On just our business page) I've noticed a huge increase in traffic and organic reach compared to our average numbers. Why is video marketing so powerful? Here are some of the top three reasons as to why Promo Video Marketing works: 1) It's easier for your audience to consume. People would much rather sit through a 1-2 minute video than read paragraph after paragraph of that fluffy content most of us have on the landing page of our business website. It is also proven that people feel more of a connection with the business after watching a video rather then viewing a written post or image. 2) It helps to creates trust & loyalty. Through video marketing, you are able to easily display your personality & passions to your audience, which untimely help them connect with you. It also helps breath soul into your business & brand. Videos are also much more memorable then other forms of marketing. 3) It drives sales & gives you an edge over competition. People are far more likely to watch a video then read a post, ad or a written email marketing campaign. Due to that fact alone, the number of potential customers you reach will increase. Videos help to display a product/business/service in a way that posts and ads can not. This will also give you an edge over competition because your potential clients will feel like they already know you & what you are all about. {If you are wanting some statistics as to why video marketing is the way to go, then check out THIS article.} {The numbers & stats for our last promo video for Texture Hair Boutique (As shown above) were taken only after 48 hours after the video was posted. Numbers are expected to increase.}

This past weekend we hosted our first Photography & Business Essentials Workshop! We had a blast with our students & models and we look forward to many workshops to come! Students went home with a book that summarized the lessons taught throughout the day in a hand on way. They also left with great images for their portfolios, professional head shots of themselves, two editing tutorials, new techniques, an understanding of manual and access to our private online student group (Where we post many resources to the best actions, apps, business tools and photography products. We explored three different lighting techniques; natural, soft box and studio flash. We also talked about how to communicate with you subjects in order to make them feel more confidant & get the pose/shot you want. I can go on and on about the subjects we covered, but you can find all this information on our Group Workshops page. "This workshop was one of the best things I ever did to help me improve my Photography. Thanks to Paige's and, Stacie's expertise we had a very informative and fun filled day." - Rocket Ron Examples of Vintage Shots we got with the Students Students received editing tutorials for two of the images below!
How to get more Likes & Comments on your posts. “I have been trying out blogging on my website for a while now, but I still haven't received any comments or likes. I feel like it’s not worth the time I spent on creating a blog piece. What am I doing wrong?” Comments and likes are how we know that our audience is really responding to the content we create. When we don't receive anything, you can feel a tad defeated and even rejected by your viewers. When I first started a blog for my business, I would have the toughest time getting the post out there in the world of social media. Over time I started to realize my biggest mistakes…. My posts were BORING. There was little to no personality to them & I was simply playing it safe by posting things I thought were popular to blog. I wasn't even asking my viewers to participate in the post, which resulted in people glancing over it & moving on to new and better things. After I had this light bulb moment, I began trying some new techniques which infinitely improved the number of my readers & their engagement. Why are likes and comments so important? When you create a post, be it a blog, video or an image, you want to attract as much engagement as possible so that you will have a higher reach and more exposure for your business. And let's be honest, it also makes you feel pretty good! This is a list of advice from myself & successful bloggers within our social media community.
Now, I challenge you to try implementing these techniques into your future posts! If you have any techniques that have worked for your business, feel free to share as I would LOVE to know! (This is a list of recent posts through my other business's Facebook page.
By viewing my insights I can isolate any trends.) I just did an amazing boudoir photo shoot with a very reluctant client who was persistent to "losing just 10lbs" before she can book a boudoir session. Finally, after some time, she realized she wanted to embraced the way she looks now, not when she loses weight and it got me thinking: why do I love doing boudoir photography? There is no doubt that boudoir shoots are some of my favorite to do, but why? I rarely get to share the photos I take, given their private nature, so it isn’t for bragging rights or publicity. A lot of work goes into creating a successful boudoir shoot – choosing a theme, going back and forth (and back and forth!) with reluctant and self-conscious clients who are doubting their reasoning for doing the shoot, creating the perfect lighting during the shoot, and getting the right mix of sexy and tasteful: it isn’t an easy style of photography to do. So what makes it all worth it for me? 1) I get to see clients transform from shy and unsure to confident sexpots in the span of a few hours. 2)Clients trust me when they are at their most vulnerable, and that’s a big deal! 3) Laughing about wardrobe malfunctions. 4) I get to say ridiculous things like: “Can you just hold your one boob up like this?” or “Do you mind if I put a sock in there?” or “Just pretend you’re taking a selfie.” 5) I get to make clients feel stunning – professional hair and makeup isn’t a luxury people usually afford themselves, so they are always floored by the results. 6) I get ideas for cute lingerie. 7) The “Oh my god, is that really me?!” reaction: priceless. 8) Prancing around in your underwear has a way of bringing people together – I end up having just as much fun as my clients. 9) The number of times I hear “Wow my ____ looks amazing!” after they see a shot. 10) No one ever leaves the shoot feeling fat, or gross, or anything but beautiful – regardless of how they felt when they walked in. Boudoir photography is sexy, fun, and empowering: who wouldn’t love doing it?! “Thank you for your submission. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept it at this time…” Fear of rejection is one of the biggest things holding us back in today’s society. The same is true for rejection in the photography world. Putting ourselves out there as an artist is terrifying, and understandably so because showing off your art can make you feel incredibly vulnerable. As a business owner & photographer, I’ve had to deal with rejection on multiple occasions, such as clients not liking their images, or magazines rejecting my submissions. Believe me, I try to handle it with grace… I really do. But unfortunately I don’t have the thick skin that seems to come naturally to some business owners. So after I wipe away my tears and pick up my wounded pride, I try to change my perspective. Don’t Take it Personally. Now I find it absurd that people tell you not to take rejection “personally”. Your business & art work becomes your baby... its an extensions of you. And if anyone rejected my baby, my inner mama bear would want to emerge and tear them to shreds. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable behaviour in the business world, so you need to focus on more constructive methods of coping. I believe that the best thing to do is to actually expect rejection and know that it is practically a rite of passage for being successful. If you expect it to happen it will be much easier for you to accept it, learn from it and move on. Rejection is a Stepping Stone to Success. “I have missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I have missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan What do Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney, Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein have in common? They’ve been hard core rejected and have survived. Oprah was fired as a news reporter because she was too emotionally attached to her stories. Walt Disney was told that he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas”. Steve Jobs was fired from his own company. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team and Einstein’s teachers through that he would never amount to anything and was expelled because he couldn’t speak until he was four or read until he was seven. My point is that everyone gets rejected. You can look at it as a loss and give up, or you can take it as a learning opportunity & push yourself to get better and better. Find more rejection-to-success stories HERE. Turn “No” Into “Yes”. Just because someone has told you “no”, doesn’t mean that you will never have the opportunity to turn their “no” into a “yes”. In fact, make it your goal! Learn why they rejected you in the first place and if it’s in the best interest of your business and your future, keep working on it until you can get them to change their mind. Keep sending new submissions to magazines & keep trying to create magical images & artwork to reveal to your clients. Can you imagine how great it would feel seeing your work published? Or see the happy teared face of a mother or new bride? {insert happy dance here} Check out 4 amazing tips on how to turn a “no” into a “yes” HERE! Use Rejection as Fuel. Someone has rejected you? Well prove them wrong! They’ve said that your business will never work? Make it work! They’ve told you that your ideas aren’t good enough? Well turn your ideas into the best darn things since sliced bread! Don’t let people’s negative opinion deter you from your dreams. Surround yourself with a positive support system (Even if it’s just yourself), and make it happen. Rejection should never be a road block, it should be the fuel that drives you forward. I realize that this is all easier said than done, but sometimes a change in perspective is all you need to make a difference in your outlook. We all start at the bottom and claw our way to the top. Just remember that you are not alone & that you are well on the path towards success. Lets learn from each other! What are your methods on dealing with rejection? The Value in Professional Photography & Print Growing up, I would love to sit and sift through the many photo albums my mother had compiled over the years. I would cozy up on the couch and take a glorious trip down memory lane looking through memories I was too young to remember or too busy to appreciate. Family photos & hideous school portraits would adorn the fireplace & framed images would be scattered throughout the house. These pictures are what made our house a home. For the life of me, I can’t remember the couch I sat on or the clothes I was wearing, I just remember sitting there and feeling content & at peace. Photos are becoming an ever-growing popular way to communicate our lives through social media. The days of print have become almost obsolete… But I believe the value of print needs to be refocused. What would happen if your facebook account was hacked or there was some terrible virus that spread through your computer? Those precious memories could possibly be lost. Why a professional photographer? Why pay the price? Well, why a couch or new dining set? Why an expensive haircut? Because these are all items & services known as investments. We pay a great sum for something that will be of value in our lives for a long period of time. When we pay a professional photographer to capture our important milestones & this is something we’re going to keep forever. This is something our children will cherish forever. And doesn’t something like that deserve to be on the walls in our home as opposed to the wall on our facebook page? Doesn’t it deserve to be in a tangible album that can’t be deleted or overlooked? I believe it does. A professional photographer is trained to create pieces of art that reflects your family, your child, your pet or/and your wedding day. An IPhone just can’t capture that degree of professionalism, creativity & quality. The professionalism of the photographer will help make the process stress free & efficient. The creativity that the photographer brings will make your images unique & personal. The high resolution/quality makes it possible for you to invest in wall art pieces to decorate & personalize your home. Luckily there are many photographers to choose from… so how do you choose? Because this is your investment, choose a photographer whose work speaks to you. You are investing in images of your family that will last lifetimes. By going with someone you love, you wont be disappointed & the experience will be worth it for you. After your session is complete. After you photos are edited. After your photographer presents them to you. After you choose your images & order products you will cherish forever… It will be your children cuddled up on the couch wandering through memory lane with an album in hand, surrounded by photos of their past in a home you have created for them. Preserve your precious memories & invest in quality, because this is one of the most valued services that you & your family will treasure. |
